Mel Gibson made his first public appearance with his new girlfriend last night (28.04.09) – just two weeks after his wife filed for divorce.
The ‘Lethal Weapon’ star was accompanied by Russian pop star Oksana Pochepa at the Los Angeles industry screening for ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ at Hollywood’s Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.
An onlooker said: “They came in as quietly as they could and tried to be pretty low-key. You could tell they didn’t want to attract too much attention, although Mel seemed very comfortable with her.”
The 53-year-old actor held hands with Oksana as they walked the carpet and is determined to enjoy his life following the permanent split from Robyn, his wife of 28 years.
His representative said: “Mel has really been single for almost three years and it’s nice to see him getting out and enjoying himself.”
Robyn – who has seven children with the Hollywood star – filed for divorce earlier this month, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
It came just weeks after he was he was spotted frolicking on a beach with Oksana.
The pair reportedly became close on the set of the movie ‘Edge of Darkness’ last August, when they were photographed leaving his trailer together.
However, Mel – who is a devout Catholic – always denied the affair.

Geez, Mel is only a few years older than me but his face looks twenty years older with all those wrinkles. Put down the bottle Mel!
