Yesterday, a million Twitter fans got to see what NBC was serving at its cafeteria for Black History month after Late Night band-member Questlove tweeted a picture of the menu (with the comment “Hmmm HR?”). The menu included Fried Chicken, Collard Greens and Fountain Soda (the type of soda was not specified, thankfully). This seemed to have upset a lot of folks which prompted a change in the menu just a few hours later.
The cook who came up with the menu responded through NBC-owned TheGrio.com which is an African American news and opinion website:
“It’s not trying to offend anybody and it’s not trying to suggest that that’s all that African-Americans eat. It’s just a good meal.”
FYI, the cook is a black woman named Leslie Calhoun.
In related news, NBC is looking to hire new cafeteria staff. We hear Don Imus is applying, and he’s promising to never say things like “nappy-headed hoes” while dunking the chicken in flour.

I know about the cliches regarding fried chicken and watermelon, but what is it about strawberry soda that makes black people say that they wouldn’t be caught dead drinking it?

Has anyone ever stopped to consider that fried chicken and collard greens are damn good. Maybe it’s because I’m from Atlanta, but it just seems like a good meal to me.
