Man Claims to be LeBron's Father – And Sues Him

Published on July 08, 2010 with No Comments

In the most not surprising move of the year… a random man is coming out of the woodwork, claiming to be King James’ dad. And then promptly suing him. This is all before LeBron James makes his announcement tomorrow about where he is going to be playing next year. LeBron James and his mother Gloria James are being sued for millions by a man who claims he tried to prove he’s the NBA star’s biological father, but LeBron and his mom tampered with the evidence.

55-year-old Leicester Bryce Stovell is claiming that he met Gloria in a D.C. area bar in 1984, slept with her in an unprotected fashion, and later found out she was 15-years-old at the time while he was 29. … which isn’t really relevant, but funny and illegal!

Surprisingly enough, the man claiming to be the father of King James isn’t exactly a dirty, homeless man just aiming to get a few bucks. He is a Princeton graduate who earned a law degree from the University of Chicago. He is also a Senior Legal Advisor for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. (The response you’re looking for is WTF?)

In his suit, Stovell claims he has a very clear recollection of the night he had “consensual sexual relations” with Gloria. He even remebers profusely apologizing for his bad sexual performance. .. which really isn’t great evidence, since most of the readership here spend their time doing just that. (“This never happens!!!”) Leicester claims Gloria went back to her hometown in Ohio after they hooked up but returned several months later to inform him she was pregnant with a boy named LeBron. At this time she never identified him as the dad.

He thought that he was LeBron’s father back in 2007, because he says that he started to notice they look alike. Because he noticed a complete stranger and celebrity looked just like him. During a phone call with Gloria in 2007, Leicester claims that Gloria denied ever meeting him and threatened to have him physically harmed. She also told him, “LeBron’s money is for his children.”

Leicester claims LeBron and his lawyer agreed to a DNA paternity test. The results were negative, but he began to suspect that the results were tampered with by Gloria and LeBron himself.

Leicester, who says that he was a high school athlete, says he remembers telling Gloria, “Well, if he’s mine, make sure he plays basketball.” Which isn’t hard evidence. He’s a lawyer. He should know that.
