Barbecue Restaurant Donates Bones To Local Dog Shelter

Walking into a dog shelter usually subjects one to a barrage of never ending barks from its residents except on one afternoon when you could hear a pin drop. On this day at the Williamson County Dog shelter, local resturant Wayne Mueller had pulled up with over 200 pounds of rib bones for the stressed out pups.

As soon as the employees began handing out the bones to the canine residents, a sudden silence fell upon them that lasted the remainder of the afternoon according to staff member Cheryl Schneider.

According to shelter staff, no one had ever delivered a gift close to this size since being in operation. Mueller had been collecting the bones (close to 750 of them) off customers plates for the previous few weeks and storing them in his walk in freezer until the drop off.

Mueller was quoted saying ”With these animals, you never know if this is their last stop or not, they are totally reliant on the hearts and efforts of the local community to come and save them.” Mueller said he didn’t want to see the bones just go to waste and didn’t want to sell them to local pet stores for a profit. He plans to continue the kind act on a regular basis.
