Oprah Winfrey Highest Paid Celebrity

Oprah Winfrey has been named the highest paid celebrity by Forbes magazine for the fourth year in a row. The magazine estimates that Winfrey earned a whopping $165 million between May 2011 and May 2012, which was just $5 million more than Hollywood director Michael Bay who came in a close second at $160 million. What a slacker he is, huh? Pfft.

Oprah’s recent struggles with her network ‘OWN’ have contributed to a big decline in her earnings this past year ($125 million drop) compared to last year’s earnings. However, she still remains at the top of the list for now; we’ll see if she can make it five years in a row next year.

Steven Spielberg was number 3 on the list at $130 million and Jerry Bruckheimer was number 4 at $115 million. Director/producer/writer/actor/astronaut Tyler Perry just missed out on cracking the top five, coming in at number 6 with $105 million — just $5 million behind Dr. Dre who is raking in the money thanks to his line of headphones Beats by Dr. Dre.

Surprisingly, I didn’t even crack the top 20! Apparently, you have to actually make money to be considered. Stealing change out of old couches just doesn’t pay the bills anymore.
