Usher has won primary custody over his two kids, Usher Raymond V and Naviyd Ely Raymond. The decision was made in Atlanta on Friday and it’s a little bit of a surprise. Most ex-husbands never win primary custody, so it’s nice to see that the judge awarded Usher primary custody.

Usher and his ex-wife Tameka Foster will share legal custody, but Usher will have the primary care giving role. This decision might really sting for Tameka, considering her 11-year-old son died last month in a tragic boat accident on a lake in Georgia. We imagine it’s kind of a bittersweet victory for Usher.

Tameka and Usher got married back in 2007 and filed for divorce two years later; they have been fighting in court ever since. Usher has been clear that there is no hope of reconciliation between the two, and even claims that Tameka tried to beat up his current girlfriend.

The decision to give Usher primary custody probably had a lot to do with his financial stability. The judge might have also thought that Tameka was not fit to take care of the two kids right now. It’s certainly been a long month for Tameka and Usher…hopefully they remain civil and do what is best for the kids.
