‘Neighborhood Watch’ Being Pushed Back Due To Trayvon Martin Case? (Trailer Video Inside!)

We are sure that you have all heard about the Trayvon Martin case that is currently sweeping the nation. Trayvon was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch captain with a serious case of the power trips. Well, this has forced 20th Century Fox to pull posters and the teaser trailer for the upcoming comedy, ’Neighborhood Watch’ from Florida theaters. The teaser poster will get replaced nationwide with a new poster in the coming weeks.

“We are very sensitive to the Trayvon Martin case, but our film is a broad alien-invasion comedy and bears absolutely no relation to the tragic events in Florida.” a Fox spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.

The film will star Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade. The film is about a bunch of suburban men who form a watchdog group and happen to discover an alien invasion. You can see in the video above, the trailer was clearly trying to keep the “alien invasion” a surprise. It offers no hint of aliens, just a teenager who was trying to throw out some bad eggs.

Fox is still planning on releasing the movie on July 27, but a lot of people think it will get pushed back to a later date. Forbes contributor, Roger Friedman thinks that it will likely be pushed back to the fall, or even as far back as next January.

I am not sure if I agree with this. Yes, the Trayvon Martin case is a terrible tragedy and it should have never happened. But do we really need to push back a movie just because it has “neighborhood watch” people in it? The film is about aliens! ALIENS! It’s a comedy about aliens, with Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill in it. What would be the harm in releasing it this summer? Laughter is the best medicine. Well, laughter and morphine..that sh*t is crazy.
