Say Hello to the New Miss America!

So, I am sure most of you were not even aware that the Miss America competition was taking place last night. And, that is perfectly fine! You think I watched it? Heck no. But, that doesn’t mean we can’t welcome in the beautiful lady who won.

Her name is Laura Kaeppeler, she is 23 years old and from Wisconsin and she kind of has an interesting background. While all the other girls were talking about the environment and starving children (just guessing on that one) Laura was talking about how she wants children of incarcerated adults to feel less alone, to have mentoring and as much of a relationship with their parents as possible. You might be wondering why she picked such a random cause, well she was one of those children. Her father went to jail for mail fraud, so she has had personal experience in this subject. “There are many of you out there – and I was one of them – but it doesn’t define you.” Kaeppeler said.
