The Harry Potter seven-book series has shaped the mind of most child and child-at-hearts of this generation.
With books that tackle every chapter of Harry Potter’s life, narrating the adventures and misadventures of the half-wizard, half-muggle Harry, it is difficult to imagine that there will come a time when the author J.K. Rowling will just stop sharing what transpired with Harry Potter’s life.
Recently, Rowling launched a new book called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. On July 30, Rowling unveiled the book that fans worldwide highly anticipated. Some even lined up outside stores just to be the first to get their hands on the new book. Collectors, enthusiasts and true-blue Harry Potter fans wont miss the launch of the new book since it has been a long time since the series ended.
Considered as the eight story from the series and launched 19 years later, it is not surprising that the fans are overflowing with excitement with the new book.
But during the launching gala, Rowling announced what many have feared. The book Harry Potter and the Cursed Child also marks the end of the Harry Potter series. That’ll be the last we will hear of Harry, Hermione, Ron and even Professor Snape.
“He goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we’re done. This is the next generation, you know,” Rowling said in an interview with Reuters. “So, I’m thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now.”
The book fast-forwards into Harry’s life 19 years later as a 37-year old married man and a father of three. It is nostalgic to look back into Harry Potter characters from the first part of the movie adaptation and to compare the characters and how they have grown now.
Harry Potter has undeniably won the hearts and imagination of many and it will remain that way. And I think it’s good that Rowling ended the series with Harry still as strong as horse. Who knows, she might be giving birth to another blockbuster book series just waiting to be launched?
