Mariano Rivera’s Career Might be Over

It’s a sad day in New York. Marino Rivera, one of the greatest closers to ever play the game might have just suffered a season and even career ending injury. The 42-year-old closer was shagging fly balls during batting practice when it looked like he tripped in the outfield.

He fell to the ground in excruciating pain. Every player and coach quickly surrounded him; they ended up having to cart him off the field. He was taken in for a MRI and it revealed he tore his ACL. Which means he will not be playing again this season, but what about next season? Will he ever be back?

“At this point, I don’t know. Going to have to face this first. It all depends on how the rehab is going to happen, and from there, we’ll see.” Rivera said as he was trying to fight back tears.

What a sad way to end such a great career. I’m not a Yankee fan, but I always respected Rivera. Hopefully he can prove everyone wrong and make it back next year.
