While the world was celebrating the summer Olympics in London, we were having our own Olympics right here at home. The Daily Fix held the first ever “Tire Olympics” where two tires go head to head with each other in high impact events. We put the tires through three different events, and they weren’t your typical “tire” tests. Did you honestly think The Daily Fix would do anything “normal”?
First, let us introduce you to the tires…
The first tire is the ’Motivo’ tire put out by Nitto; the tire is complete with a 60,000 mile warranty and features a unique design that is designed to minimize road noise.
The second tire is the ‘Cooper Zeon RS3-A’ put out by Cooper Tires; the tire comes with a 40,000 mile warranty and promises to be a great all-season tire.
Now, you would think we would do a bunch of boring road tests to see which tire is better. However, like we said, this is The Daily Fix and we are all about thinking outside the tire. So, we put the two tires through three very unique events, The Hot Dog Roll, All About Smell, and The Nail-athon.
First Event: The Hot Dog Roll
In this event we put three hot dogs in each tire and then rolled the tires down a hill; the tire that had the most hot dogs left inside of it…wins! We used freshly grilled hot dogs (better for eating afterwards) and stacked those puppies inside of the two tires — then we rolled them down the hill and waited for our judges down at the bottom of the hill to report back the results.
The winner? The ‘Motivo’ tire! It only lost one hot dog, while the Cooper Zeon lost two of its hot dogs.
Second Event: All About Smell
This event was pretty simple; the tire that had the best “tire” smell to it would win. Unfortunately, since they were both brand new tires, they both had a pretty strong smell. We couldn’t really pick a clear winner and we were starting to get a little dizzy from all the sniffing, so we just decided to call it a tie.
Third Event: The Nail-athon
The final event! We set up a 20 yard trail of nails, and then proceeded to roll the tires through the trail to see which tire held up the best. Remember, the Cooper Zeon needed to win this event in order to force a tie breaker; so how did it do? Well, both tires ended up being completely flat by the end of the trail and we had to call it a tie again.
Which means the ‘Motivo’ tire by Nitto won gold in the first ever ‘Tire Olympics’ — and to celebrate the Motivo victory, we put a set of tires on our car and drove on over to Rhino Custom Detailing and got a signature ‘rhino’ detail. The car and tires got the special MVP treatment they deserve. If you’re buying brand new tires for your car, then you might as well make sure the rest of your car has that “new sparkle” everyone wants their vehicle to have and no one does it better than Rhino Wash.
If you’d like to learn more about the ‘Motivo’ then click here and check out the awesome features. We recommend buying them, but we do not recommend putting them through the events listed above. Just put them on your car and enjoy the open road!
